“The Victims of Vonntor!”

In "The Victims of Vonntor!", Professor Gorey’s interplanetary bird trade takes a deadly turn when he stumbles upon a colossal avian on a distant world—only to find the creature mistakes his spaceship for an egg and sits on it with devastating results. A striking blend of sci-fi whimsy and cosmic absurdity, this 1953 tale from Ed Winiarski’s dynamic art and Sol Brodsky’s bold cover captures a moment of pure, unintentional peril in a 10-cent comic.

When Professor Gorey realizes that there is a valuable market in interplanetary birds, he begins stealing eggs from other worlds, hatching them, and selling the rare birds. However, on one trip to a new planet, he finds a giant bird taller than a skyscraper, who mistakes his spaceship for its egg and sits down on it, crushing the ship and the professor.
