“I Wouldn't Make the Same Mistake Again!”

In "I Wouldn't Make the Same Mistake Again!", a cursed charm passes through time, first granting courage to 17th-century Geoffrey Marshall—only to bind him to the Devil—before landing in the hands of modern-day Bud Harper, who faces the same test of nerve. Written by Ace Aquila and illustrated by Ogden Whitney, this chilling tale weaves a timeless struggle between fear and resolve, with a cover by Dick Giordano capturing the eerie tension.

In the 17th century, Geoffrey Marshall idly thinks he'd sell his soul for courage. Later he accepts a charm from a stranger, who guarantees it will bring him the courage he seeks. It does, but eventually the Devil returns for his soul. In the current day, Bud Harper suffers from the same lack of courage until he comes across that same satanic charm. However, this time when the Devil comes to collect, Bud has developed real courage and tosses Satan out on his ear, reminding the demon that he never made any agreement for his soul.
