The scale of the threat facing the Ultimate Marvel universe has never looked more harrowing than on Brandon Peterson's cover for this 2006 opening chapter: a colossal, featureless dark figure looms against a burning crimson sky, its sheer size dwarfing the scorched landscape and broken bodies strewn across the foreground, while eerie glowing orbs hover at its sides.
