An anthology of Marine combat stories set during the Korean War. "Operation Explosion" depicts Marines performing a dangerous munitions depot assignment in ice-frozen Korea. A second story follows Commander Ron Leigh, an obnoxious pilot on the carrier Higbee, who is assigned to lead an advanced Marine squadron based on a captured airfield; when his squadron is called for a critical mission to bomb the Kumshow air base, Leigh must overcome his arrogance to complete the dangerous flight.

The "Blood 'n Guts" Platoon!
6 pp · War

In 1952 Korea, a U.S. Marine combat unit—the 36th, soon to be known as the "Blood 'n Guts" Platoon—storms the heavily fortified island of Kinwon to silence enemy rocket launchers that have been harassing UN forces. What begins as a brutal beachhead assault becomes a tense waiting game when the Marines discover the enemy has withdrawn inland, setting a cunning trap. Faced with an imminent counterattack from a much larger force, the platoon must hold their ground and turn the enemy's own strategy against them.

The Greater Glory!
7 pp · War

Two Marines with nothing in common—Mike Cameron, a rough-around-the-edges former truck driver, and John Bishop, an educated gentleman from a well-to-do family—clash from their first day in boot camp, trading barbs and challenges at every turn. When the Korean War brings them face-to-face behind enemy lines, the two discover that their rivalry masks something deeper, and must work together to survive a desperate mission involving a Soviet tank and overwhelming enemy forces. What begins as friction between two soldiers becomes a testament to the bonds forged in combat.

Operation Explosion
6 pp · War

A Marine platoon volunteers for a desperate helicopter raid deep behind enemy lines to destroy a Communist munitions depot in ice-frozen Korea, but when Chinese and North Korean shock troops ambush their landing, the mission becomes a race against time and overwhelming odds. With the depot defended far more heavily than anticipated, the surviving Marines must find an unconventional way to complete their assignment and give the UN forces the opening they need to break through enemy positions.

Death at Twelve O'Clock High!
6 pp · Aviation, War

When a cocky Navy fighter pilot transfers to a Marine squadron in Korea, his solo heroics and contempt for teamwork put the entire unit at odds—until an impossible mission forces him to choose between his ego and the lives depending on him. Commander Ron Leigh learns that flying in formation means more than just following orders, and that sometimes the real battle is the one inside yourself.
