When the Marley Rovers come to Waltham to play a game for charity, international star centre forward Frank Lomax breaks his leg and is sent to St. Luke's Hospital. Paula, who idolized Frank, devotes herself to giving him the best care possible. When he gets out of the hospital, a romance begins to blossom with Paula until they discover Frank has a child. He had secretly married a girl in Italy under age twenty, but the girl's father had arranged to have the marriage annulled and forbidden her to write. Now that she has become of age, Frank feels he needs to do the right thing.
