After the death of her parents, Ina came to the South American country of Domingua to live with her uncle who ran a local newspaper, the Estoriza Times. A band of men who appeared to be revolutionaries, but were actually hired by the owner of a rival newspaper owner, destroyed her uncle's office and his newsprint. Without his permission, Ina goes to the capital to bring back newsprint to save her uncle's newspaper. There she meets an American who agrees to drive the lorry and its newsprint on its dangerous journey to Estoriza.
