Gail has come to Morocco to teach English to Simone, but immediately falls in love with a freelance journalist there. Her situation is complicated by the fact that Simone's mother intends for Simone to marry Hugh and will send Gail back if she interferes. But Simone is in love with a Frenchman there. When Simone leaves the house with Gail, she uses it as an excuse to see Leon while Gail is free to spend time with Hugh.
