When Sandra witnesses a murder and is threatened into silence, she flees on a train, only to escape a police officer’s questioning and nearly drown—only to wake on a remote island, rescued by a solitary man who offers her sanctuary. The quiet dread of her isolation and the weight of her secret make this a gripping, character-driven tale from a lesser-known corner of the IPC library.
