True Believers: Generation X #1

"Third Genesis" kicks off a new chapter for Generation X as the team settles into Xavier's and prepares for their mission. When Banshee, Jubilee, and Synch go to the airport to meet their newest recruit, Jonothon Starsmore, they're ambushed by the mutant vampire Emplate—only for Gateway to teleport in and drive the attacker off. Back at the mansion, Chamber and the others find a wounded mutant on the grounds, and as Gateway whispers the name "Penance," the team's uneasy calm begins to unravel. Written by Scott Lobdell and illustrated by Chris Bachalo with inks by Mark Buckingham, colors by Steve Buccellato and Electric Crayon, and lettered by Richard Starkings and Comicraft, the cover by Bachalo and Buckingham captures the tension of this pivotal moment.
