Jor-L discovers Krypton's pending doom. After failing to get the Kryptonian Council to believe him, he and Lora prepare to send their only son Kal-L on a rocket to Earth to escape the planet's destruction. When the end comes, Jor-L and Lora send Kal-L off just in time. When baby Kal-L arrives on Earth, he is found by a passing motorist and placed in an orphanage, where his strength amazes the staff there. When Clark Kent, as he is now called, reaches maturity, he discovers his powers and decides to become Superman.
