Trials of Shazam #6

The halfway point of this twelve-issue DC series arrives with a striking cover by Howard Porter: a heavily tattooed, manacled Hercules grips iron bars from behind a cell, his knuckles spelling out "HERC" and his expression radiating barely contained fury. The tagline "Hercules Chained!" says it all — one of mythology's mightiest figures has been brought low, and the tension practically radiates off the page. Judd Winick and Porter make a compelling team for this 2007 reimagining of the Shazam mythology, and this issue looks like a genuinely dramatic chapter in the trials ahead.
