Trials of Shazam #2

The second chapter of this 12-part DC series finds a young man caught in a crackling surge of magical lightning, his expression caught somewhere between awe and alarm as an immense, robed figure looms over him, staff blazing with mystical energy. The tagline "Pass the Power!" sets the stakes perfectly for this arc, and Howard Porter's painted cover crackles with that sense of transformation and trial hanging in the air. With Judd Winick and Howard Porter at the helm, The Trials of Shazam! was clearly swinging for something ambitious right from the start of its run.
