Word is out that the school vote failed because B.F. Jones threatened to cut off credit in his stores if folks voted for the new school. When confronted with this by Chuck, Mr. Jones denies it. Mr. Jones tells Judd not to do anything without his approval in the future. When Chuck pulls into Judd's gas station for service, Judd does something to sabotage the car. Unbeknownst to Judd, it is not Chuck, but his own son, who will be driving Mrs. Everett to Steeltown in Chuck's car.
