Transformers #3
Transformers #3 — subtitled 'Tödliches Chaos' ('Deadly Chaos') in German — represents the third chapter of Panini Deutschland's trade-paperback serialization of the critically acclaimed Energon Universe relaunch, bringing the Combiner Chaos story arc to German-language readers for the first time. As the German edition of US Transformers Vol. 3: Combiner Chaos, it collects the arc (issues #13–18 plus the Energon Universe 2024 Special story) in which the war is shown simultaneously fracturing Decepticon society and spilling catastrophically into human civilization, including a landmark kaiju-scale clash between the Combiners Devastator and Bruticus in Seattle. This volume also marks the point in the Eisner Award-winning series where Jorge Corona had fully taken over art duties from series originator Daniel Warren Johnson, establishing the visual continuity of the franchise's second creative phase. For German-speaking Transformers fans, this Panini release — translated by Andreas Kasprzak — is the primary canonical edition of this pivotal arc, making it historically significant within the European publication history of the Energon Universe.

The underlying US material was produced as part of Skybound Entertainment's Energon Universe, launched in October 2023 after Skybound/Image Comics acquired the Transformers comic license from IDW Publishing, which had lost it at the end of 2022. The series was conceived as a passion project by Daniel Warren Johnson — who publicly noted he had been drawing Optimus Prime since first grade — with colors by longtime collaborator Mike Spicer and lettering by Rus Wooton; Jorge Corona joined as artist from issue #7 onward. Panini's German division — which had been publishing licensed Transformers comics in various forms dating back to the Dreamwave era — began releasing this Skybound series on February 25, 2025, with Band 1 ('Roboter unter uns!'); Band 3 ('Tödliches Chaos') followed in October 2025, translated by Andreas Kasprzak.
