In "Chapter 1. The Potato Bug Invasion," Mertie and Bertie race to the Storm King’s castle, only to be ambushed by Christopher Q. Catt and Freddie Fox—who reveal themselves as the true Storm King, wielding weather control through sheer will. With the Ruler of the Forest stepping in to restore order and Horrible Harold brought down, Mertie, Bertie, and Tubby return home as unlikely heroes. The story, drawn with bold energy by L. B. Cole and Ellis Chambers, features a striking cover by L. B. Cole, all in a 10-cent comic from 1945.
