Totale maîtrise #3

The third volume of Abolin and Pont's Totale Maîtrise heads to the islands with "Hawaiian Style," and the cover sets the tone beautifully — a confident, stylish surfer rides a warm golden wave in the foreground while a gaggle of wide-eyed, comically frantic characters scramble along behind her on their own boards. The contrast between her cool poise and their chaotic energy is wonderfully playful, rendered in Pont's bright, expressive style against a gorgeous sunset-drenched Hawaiian sky. If this 2006 Vents d'Ouest release is any indication, the series' blend of humor and sun-soaked adventure is very much still riding high.
