Torchy strides front and center on this September 1950 Quality Comics cover — blonde, glamorous, and utterly unflappable in a form-fitting blue dress and fur stole, trailing a little white dog on a leash while chaos erupts around her. To her left, a wide-eyed scoutmaster tips his hat mid-tumble, and to her right an indignant older woman spills her parcels, umbrella raised in protest. Bill Ward's crisp, expressive linework captures the whole delightful scene with the confident wit that made "America's Blonde Bombshell" a genuine treat in postwar humor comics.
