Part of Marvel's 1993 Heavy Hitters imprint, this prestige-format issue of Joe Kubert's Tor puts the prehistoric hero front and center in a tense cover scene — Tor crouches protectively over a terrified young woman while a towering, pale, monstrous creature looms over them both with clawed hands outstretched. Every line of that cover, from the raw urgency on the woman's face to the hulking menace above, is pure Kubert, who wrote, drew, inked, colored, and lettered the entire book himself. "Book Two: The Chosen One" promises the kind of visceral, deeply personal Stone Age storytelling that only a singular talent working in complete creative control can deliver.
