Tor #2
Joe Kubert's prehistoric adventure series continues with issue two of this 2008 DC miniseries, subtitled "Striped Death" — and the cover makes the threat unmistakably clear. A massive, snarling tiger looms over a dark-haired figure pinned beneath its claws, who clutches a small blade as a last desperate measure, all rendered with Kubert's characteristically raw, kinetic linework. With Kubert handling writing, art, inking, lettering, and coloring himself (alongside colorist Pete Carlsson), this is about as personal and assured a creative vision as comics gets.
