Top Notch Laugh Comics #35

From MLJ's long-running humor anthology comes this April 1943 issue of Top-Notch Laugh Comics, proudly billed as "America's Funniest Joke Book." Red Holmdale's cover is a cheerful riot of comic chaos — two fellows scramble frantically beneath a tree, a large dog lunging at them, a honey jar spilling nearby, and a ghostly figure hovering beside a tombstone that reads "Here Lies Gus Gloom," while toy-like figures dangle from the branches above. Introduced in a circular inset are cowgirl characters Dotty and Ditto, greeting readers with friendly word balloons that set the playful, lighthearted tone this series was known for delivering in 1943.
