Top Notch Comics #24

A February 1942 issue of Top-Notch Comics that puts the Black Hood front and center — Al Camy's cover depicts the yellow-and-black-costumed hero bursting dramatically through a newspaper page bearing the headline "BLACK HOOD SMASHES MURDER RING," fists raised and cape fanned wide. Inset portraits of two additional costumed figures — one in the lower left, one in the lower right labeled "Wizard" — round out the cover's ensemble feel. At a dime a copy, this is Golden Age anthology comics doing exactly what they did best: bold, energetic heroics splashed across a newsprint backdrop.
