“Three Tasks for Tomahawk”

DC's frontier adventure series delivers a wonderfully wild premise with Tomahawk #70, cover-penciled by Dick Dillin and inked by Sheldon Moldoff. The cover spotlights a towering, armor-clad giant — feathered headdress and all — bearing down on a wooden frontier fort while a group of defenders scramble helplessly behind the palisade, one crying out "The fort is doomed! There's no way of stopping that giant!" Riders on horseback swirl through the dusty mountain backdrop, adding to the sense of a frontier under siege from something far beyond ordinary in this October 1960 issue.
