“The Girl Who Was Chief!”

In "The Girl Who Was Chief!", Tomahawk and Dan venture into Ojibwa territory in 1771, seeking answers behind a series of raids on white settlements. After being ambushed, they’re saved by Arana, a young woman recently named chief—her authority and leadership soon put her in the thick of a mystery tied to the feathered attackers. With Bruno Premiani handling both the interior art and cover, this 1951 issue blends frontier tension with a quietly subversive twist, all rendered in his distinctive, dynamic style.

In 1771 Tomahawk and Dan travel into Ojibwa territory to find out why they are raiding white settlements. They are ambushed but rescued by Arana, a newly-elected Chief. The ambushers wore turkey feathers (not eagle feathers), cluing Tomahawk that they belong to Chief Little Badger's village.
