Marten Toonder's beloved Dutch comic strip comes to life in this second volume collecting "Tom Poes en de woelwater." The cover by Tim Artz throws us right into the chaos: Tom Poes (the white cat) and the rotund bear Olivier B. Bommel are careening through a flooded landscape in their little red car, a monstrous dark whirlpool of churning water threatening to swallow them whole, while a blue creature tumbles in the torrent alongside them — and in the background, two more animal characters scramble to safety near a farmhouse. It's a wonderfully lively scene that captures the warmhearted adventure spirit Toonder fans have cherished for decades.
