Tom Mix pursues the outlaw Dillon, who has shot Mix's horse and is intent on killing him for a reward. When Dillon attempts to execute Mix at close range, Tom Mix intervenes and shoots Dillon's gun away, foiling the murder plot. In "Treachery's Reward! Part Three: The Double Cross," Mix discovers that Dillon and an accomplice plan to kill Mix themselves to claim a reward, but Mix manages to turn the tables on the would-be assassins through quick thinking and gunplay.
