Tom Mix Western #13
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeTom Mix undertakes a dangerous mission carrying a ten-thousand-dollar payroll for his ranch through the foothills, but encounters trouble when an outlaw named Varmint tries to intercept him. After a struggle in the brush, Tom falls and is knocked unconscious, but recovers to find the payroll missing. Tom deduces that the skipper will try to reach Dockville by river and sets out to intercept him there. Tom pursues the thief to a river, where he rescues a woman named Miss from drowning after the diamond he was supposed to deliver slips out of her shirt pocket into the water.
When a desperate wolf pack threatens the settlers around Dobie, Tom Mix arrives just in time to save a family from a vicious attack—and soon discovers the town's problems run deeper than nature alone. Sheriff Mike Shaw has hired three special hunters to eliminate the wolves, but Tom begins to suspect these so-called professionals aren't what they seem. As he digs into their suspicious methods, Tom finds himself facing both the four-legged predators and a dangerous human conspiracy.
Cowboy Cal learns a lesson in swift consequences when a stray bullet accident leaves him with an unexpectedly gaping problem, and later a fellow drifter named Saddlehead seeks out the local proprietor with an unusual—and decidedly peculiar—request that defies all logic. These two humorous tales deliver the kind of sideways frontier comedy that keeps you grinning long after the punchline lands.
