Tom and Jerry Holiday Special #1985

Jan 1985 · Polystyle Publications · 0.70 GBP
“The Pains of Painting”

In "The Pains of Painting," Jerry and Tuffy convince Tom that their antics stem from being "underprivileged," prompting him to take them to an art museum in a rare moment of generosity. Inspired by a modern mural, Tom surprises them with a full set of art supplies—only to find himself overwhelmed as the mice transform his home into a chaotic canvas of modernist masterpieces. Art by Harvey Eisenberg, cover by Bill Titcombe, this 1985 holiday special captures a delightfully absurd twist on the classic rivalry, all for the price of 70 GBP.

Jerry and Tuffy blame their mischievous ways on their being "underprivileged", so Tom takes them to an art museum to "bring out their better qualities". There, the mice are taken with a mural of modern art and Tom, in an unusual gesture of generosity and kindness, buys them a complete set of paints and other art supplies to stimulate their newfound creativity. For his troubles, Tom is driven daffy by the art-obsessed mice painting their modernist-murals all over the house.
