“Bugged by a Box”

In "Bugged by a Box," Tom’s latest scheme—posing as a gourmet diner while secretly using Tuffy as a free meal substitute—starts to unravel when a sharp-eyed waiter spots the mouse’s familiar diaper. Written by Bob Gregory and brought to life with crisp, expressive art by Massimo Fecchi, this 1972 Western Comics classic captures the duo’s timeless antics with a clever twist. The cover by Harvey Eisenberg perfectly captures the moment’s tension, a 15-cent slice of classic slapstick from the golden age of cartoon comics.

Donning different disguises, Tom has been scamming the best restaurants in town by ordering an expensive meal and, after desert, putting Tuffy on his plate, or in his teapot, to get the meal for free. It works until Tom hits the same place a second time, and the waiter recognizes the mouse (perhaps by his telltale diaper?).
