“Stickball”

"Stickball" in Tip Top Comics #2 (1948) delivers a lively slice of mid-century fun, spotlighting Bombo and his young friend Tippy during a chaotic circus stunt gone awry. When Bombo is tasked with riding a cranky elephant, it’s Tippy’s quick thinking and a mysterious piece of candy that turns the tide—much to the annoyance of the grumpy circus manager Snark. Bernard Dibble’s expressive artwork brings the whole scene to life, capturing the playful tension and camaraderie in this early 1948 gem.
