History

Editor Tom Brevoort approached writer Steve Foxe — already known at Marvel for Dark X-Men and Spider-Woman — to helm the 2024 edition of what had been the annual Timeless special, with Foxe publicly noting his enthusiasm for restructuring it around Cable and Bishop, two characters he had not written extensively during his prior X-Men tenure. The decision to rename the special Timeslide, rather than continuing under the Timeless banner, was made to better reflect both the time-travel mechanics of the story and the identities of its two lead characters, marking the first title change in the tradition's short run. Artist Ivan Fiorelli, who had drawn Fantastic Four in the preceding year, was paired with the project for his ability to render distinct historical X-Men eras across a single oversized issue, with colorist Frank D'Armata and letterer Joe Caramagna rounding out the production crew.
