Benny scrambles to earn money for his friend's birthday when he gets a wild idea—enter a horse in the T-Bone Sweepstakes for a thousand-dollar prize. His Uncle Kentucky sends him the fastest thing on the farm: a horstrich, a creature that's part horse and part ostrich, and Benny decides to race it anyway. What unfolds on race day is pure pandemonium, but this peculiar animal may just have a trick up its feathers that changes everything.
When Winkie gets caught reading late at night, a smooth-talking nite owl named Hootie convinces him to sneak out for some fun—but their nighttime adventure quickly spirals into a wild chase involving a hungry fox and a desperate escape. With the odds stacked against him, Winkie finds himself in real trouble, and Hootie has to think fast to save his new pal. It's a rollicking six-page romp that proves Mother's advice about getting to bed on time might not be so bad after all.
