“The Betrayed”

In the year 2170, Thor rules Earth from the throne of New Asgard, but even his own son questions the cost of his reign. As dissent grows and a haunting nightmare reveals a past where Earth’s heroes nearly overthrew him, a hidden ally begins to undermine the empire from within. Written by Dan Jurgens and illustrated by Scot Eaton, with inks by Scott Koblish and colors by Avalon Studios, Thor #73 ("The Betrayed") explores the fragile foundation of a god’s rule, with a cover by Eaton and Koblish capturing the weight of rebellion.

In the year 2170, earth has become New Asgard and Thor rules supreme. Even so, some of his subjects including his own son, question the veracity of dominating mankind and putting all dissenters into Loki's reconditioning centers. Thor has a vivid nightmare about a time in the past when Earth's heroes, aided by Balder, almost defeated him and robbed him of his throne. Trusted advisor, Thialfi, continues to work behind the scenes to end Asgard's reign on Earth.
