The tagline says it all — "there is nothing he can't steal, nothing he can't have… except for the life he left behind" — and Shawn Martinbrough's cover for this 2013 Image series delivers on that tension beautifully. Two heavily armored, rifle-wielding figures in tactical helmets have two men dead in their sights, their targets' panicked faces reflected in the raised weapon scopes with unsettling clarity. It's a quietly gripping composition that captures the high-stakes, crime-thriller mood that has made Thief of Thieves one of the more compelling heist stories in contemporary comics.
