A lost couple find hospitality with elderly Mrs. Jenkins, and surreptitiously leave her an envelope with money when they depart. Being told that the house had burned down exactly a year earlier, killing Mrs. Jenkins, they return to investigate. They find the house in ruins, but they also find their envelope and money.
