The Witching Hour #83

DC's long-running anthology of dread delivers three chiller-thrillers in this August 1978 issue, and the cover by Luis Dominguez sets an ominously satisfying tone: a robed sorcerer bearing a flaming torch looms over a grotesquely melted figure in red, triumphantly announcing that a wax replica he carved has already done its terrible work on an "evil dictator." Shadowy witches lurk in the flickering background, and dripping candles frame the scene with just the right amount of gothic atmosphere. If macabre tales of curses and comeuppance are your thing, The Witching Hour #83 is a fine place to spend your midnight hour.
