# The Westerner #16 The main story follows Wild Bill Pecos as he is arrested by Sheriff Dan Dowo for murders committed during his outlaw days, but Bill escapes custody and hides out with Annie in Hopi Pueblo. A mysterious "ghost" with a demented hermit and three other men emerges, revealed to be a man named Fred McComb seeking revenge on Bill, claiming McComb was falsely accused and nearly hanged for crimes Bill committed. The second story, "Showdown," depicts childhood friends Jack Sully and John Petrie who become rivals on opposite sides of the law—one an outlaw and one a government agent—leading to a final confrontation between them.
