B.D. is released from hospital care and discharged from the army. His PTSD and related issues cause horrendous problems for his family. Under pressure from family and friends he seeks counseling from Elias (also a veteran and amputee) at the Vet Center. Slowly he learns from Elias, quits drinking, and finally reveals his greatest grief: In order to save his men while under attack, he ordered his driver to gun their vehicle through a crowd of Iraqi civilians.
