The Unexpected #181

DC's long-running horror anthology returns with issue #181, its cover by Luis Dominguez delivering a genuinely unsettling domestic scene: a red-haired woman crouches on a bed with disturbingly feline features and clawed hands, while another woman recoils in horror at a closet full of shredded dresses, a black cat lurking nearby and a dressing mirror reflecting the eerie tableau. Titled "Beware of Kitty's Claws" on the cover, the image captures that trademark Unexpected chill — something has gone very wrong in this ordinary household. Carl Wessler writes and Fred Carrillo illustrates the interior tale "The Hum of the Haunted," making this a solid 1977 entry in DC's classic horror line.
