“Death of an Exorcist”

In "Death of an Exorcist," Professor Hugh Ordway’s daring experiment with a quantum ray leads him to a hidden world within a diamond atom, where he aids a queen in her struggle against a tyrannical usurper wielding ancient science. Written by E. Nelson Bridwell and illustrated by Bill Ely, this surreal journey explores the cost of time and memory, as Ordway returns to find the civilization he helped has vanished—leaving him haunted by a past that no longer exists. The story’s haunting tone is matched by Nick Cardy’s striking cover, a vivid portrait of a world both alien and eerily familiar.
