The Thing #6
Benjamin J. Grimm fills the entire cover of this December 1983 Marvel solo series issue, rendered in striking close-up with his rocky orange hide dominating a stark black background — those piercing blue eyes peering out from beneath a hunched, coiled posture that feels equal parts anguish and raw power. The cover art by Ron Wilson and Brent Anderson gives the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing an almost sculptural weight, every stone-plated muscle conveying something deeply personal brewing beneath the surface. With John Byrne scripting a story titled "Mindscape," this one clearly has something more introspective in store than your average slugfest.
