“The Thing vs. Gator!”

Ben Grimm takes center stage in this November 1985 Marvel slugfest, with cover art by Ron Wilson and Paul Ryan showing the Thing launching himself off the ropes of a packed wrestling ring in a thunderous aerial drop — all rocky orange muscle and teeth-bared determination — while a green, reptilian figure identified as Gator scrambles below, crowd roaring in the background. The tagline teases it perfectly: "They don't come any meaner than… Gator!" — setting up what promises to be a wonderfully brutal bout between Marvel's favorite blue-eyed idol of millions and a genuinely menacing opponent. If you enjoy Ben Grimm doing what he does best with a stadium full of witnesses, this one's hard to pass up.
