The issue contains two stories. The first features The Texan in a county bank robbery where he attempts to thwart outlaws. The second story, "Horse Thief's Last Laugh" by Martin Gale, follows a young horse thief being pursued by a posse led by Orin Kennedy; when the kid reaches a settlement, he is about to be hanged when Captain Stebbins arrives and reveals himself to be the boy's father, leading to a dramatic confrontation between the sheriff and the ex-cavalry officer over the boy's fate.

Bill Pickett, Originator of Bulldogging
2 pp · Western-Frontier

Bill Pickett was already a skilled steer wrangler and bronc rider, but in 1903 he decided to invent an entirely new rodeo stunt to dazzle the crowds at Texas contests. When he picks a particularly ornery longhorn as his test subject, Bill executes a daring leap from his galloping horse to wrestle the beast to the ground using an audacious technique he calls "bulldogging"—a method so bold that even seasoned cowboys aren't sure they'd dare attempt it.

In the dusty shadows of the frontier, a young woman rides alone through a land where every thicket hides a threat—where Injun superstition and white man's sorcery weave a web of fear across the rangeland.
