Denny Colt dangles perilously from a rooftop fire escape high above a glittering nocturnal cityscape, his blue hat tumbling away as a menacing armored figure looms over him from above — it's a vertigo-inducing image that captures the Spirit at his most vulnerable. Paul Rivoche's cover art makes superb use of a dizzying overhead perspective, with the city streets far below adding real tension to the standoff. With Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier at the helm and the intriguing story title "Recipe for Disaster," this March 2009 issue promises the kind of pulpy, character-driven adventure that makes Will Eisner's creation so enduringly appealing.
