The masked, blue-suited Spirit lies flat on the rubble-strewn ground, reaching desperately for his dropped pistol while a sleek, black-clad woman stands over him — gun in hand and clearly holding every advantage. José Ladrönn's cover crackles with noir tension, framing the Spirit at his most vulnerable against an imposing femme fatale in a gorgeously gritty industrial setting. Part of DC's "First Wave" line and featuring a bonus black-and-white Spirit story by Harlan Ellison and Kyle Baker, this 2010 issue makes a strong case for picking up the whole run.
