The Spirit dives headlong into danger on this June 2008 issue, with the masked hero in his trademark blue suit and hat clutching an envelope while scrambling clear of a fiery, gun-blazing war scene straight off a movie set — the giant director's clapperboard framing the whole thing makes clear this story has Hollywood written all over it. Bruce Timm's cover art crackles with kinetic energy, setting a wonderfully pulpy tone for "Stand In for Murder." With Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier at the helm and Paul Smith handling the interior art, this is a creative team that brings both wit and craftsmanship to Will Eisner's beloved crimefighter.
