Promising a wild ride right from its honeycomb-framed cover, this December 1979 issue of Peter Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man plunges Spidey headfirst — literally inverted — into a buzzing nightmare. Michael Netzer and Joe Rubinstein's cover artwork depicts a costumed Spider-Man dangling upside down while a menacing, oversized wasp-like creature and a purple-robed figure close in from below, the whole scene set against an ominous golden hive backdrop. "Into the Hive!" sets an unsettling, insect-themed tone that makes this a genuinely compelling entry in the series' early run.
