A grinning figure with a dripping, deteriorating face clutches a lit cigarette against an inky black void — it's an unsettling, beautifully rendered image that sets a deeply creepy tone for "The Dancer," this issue's self-contained story. Michael Walsh's cover art is all moody restraint and quiet menace, the pink-and-grey palette lending the decaying subject an almost theatrical, sinister charm. Vita Ayala and Walsh make for a compelling team on this anthology horror series, and issue #9 looks like a fine reason to leave the lights on.
