The Sensational She-Hulk #8
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe Sensational She-Hulk was already Marvel's most playfully self-aware series by 1989, and issue #8 leans right into that spirit. The cover — penciled and inked by John Byrne — shows She-Hulk in her professional white coat and pink trousers reacting with a very skeptical "You're kidding, right?" to her new colleague: Nick St. Christopher, a jolly, white-bearded, red-suited fellow puffing a pipe who is, according to the cover text, the world's greatest detective and She-Hulk's unlikely partner in convicting New York City's most maniacal serial killer. It's a wonderfully deadpan setup, letting the absurd visual contrast between She-Hulk's lawyerly composure and her rotund, Santa-esque visitor do most of the comedic heavy lifting.
