“The Superman Story”

"The Superman Story" presents a classic retelling of the Man of Steel’s origins, tracing Jor-El’s desperate attempt to save his son before Krypton’s destruction. With rich, dynamic artwork by Rich Buckler and inks by Dick Giordano, the issue captures the emotional weight of exile and hope, from Kal-El’s journey to Earth to his upbringing by the Kents and the emergence of Superboy. The cover, also by Dick Giordano, perfectly frames the moment of departure, setting the tone for a tale that’s both intimate and epic.

Jor-El has detected that Krypton will explode and shows his findings to the Kryptonian council, who don’t believe him. To escape Krypton before the explosion, Jor-El builds a small rocket as a test model. But time runs out and he is forced to launch it containing just his son, Kal-El. The rocket comes to Earth and is found by the Kents, who raise Kal-El as their son, Clark. Due to Earth's gravity and yellow sun, Clark gains powers and becomes a superhero named Superboy. After his parents die, he moves to Metropolis and becomes a reporter for the Daily Planet and fights crime as Superman.
