“A Man Called Drako!”

This December 1970 Marvel western finds the Rawhide Kid in full stride — literally — as cover artist Herb Trimpe depicts him leaping atop a wrecked wagon, guns blazing, shouting down any hombre who'd dare stand in his way. A red-clad, sword-wielding figure identified as Drako looms menacingly nearby, while a young woman clings to the wreckage amid the chaos of fallen bodies and scattered debris. Writer Denny O'Neil and artist Dick Ayers bring the frontier action inside, and if the cover's bold warning — "Don't turn your back on the Man Called Drako!" — is any indication, the Kid's got his hands more than full this issue.
